ReStore VolunteerThe Habitat ReStore is a Discount Home Improvement Center that sells quality new and previously owned goods at discounted prices. Most items are donated by local individuals and companies to Habitat. The products are offered at low ReStore prices.

Proceeds from the ReStore go to Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County to build more affordable homes for families in Santa Barbara County.

We are well on our way to making our big move to a new location for our ReStore! We are looking for several volunteers to help us prepare for the grand opening. Throughout the month of April, we will be doing framing and wall construction, plumbing and electrical work, and a lot of cleaning and painting. Please check our volunteer calendar for volunteer days.

Other volunteers needed to:
Pickup and/or deliver building materials
Receive donations and prepare them for sale (clean, price etc.)
Stage and photograph inventory and post to Craigslist

If you can help, please email volunteer@sbhabitat.org.

Habitat for Humanity is committed to sustainability and being environmentally friendly. In our design and building practices we have a strong emphasis on energy conservation, following green building guidelines. In our last project, over 15% of the materials used were recycled from donations to the ReStore.

By making a donation of your usable building materials that are in good condition, you will:

Be environmentally responsible
21 percent of the things that make up our landfill are building materials. Much of this material can be recycled. Costs to haul or dispose of these materials are rising.

Help low-income families
Careful deconstruction and segregation of good usable materials can be a win-win proposition. Habitat will use the materials in its projects, or assist in getting them to someone who can put them to use.

Save on construction overhead
Overages from one job or items that are the wrong size or color are costly to store and handle, and can be better donated to Habitat.

Get a tax deduction for your donation
We provide a receipt and a letter which allows you or your client to report up to the full value of the donated item to the IRS.

Note:

Donated items must be in salable condition, no damage or deterioration. Windows must be dual glazed, doors must be solid core. Email us Restore@sbhabitat.org or call our office 805-692-2226 to review your items and see what we can accept. We accept lumber, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, windows, doors and other architectural salvage. We do not accept carpet, furniture or appliances.

Restore WindowsHabitat’s ReStore has a constantly changing inventory of great building materials that can be purchased at a fraction of their cost, making it possible for you to repair or upgrade your home. Proceeds from each sale help fund the construction of new Habitat homes.

Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County is currently looking for an affordable location to use as a retail outlet for our donated items. In the meantime we hold periodic parking lot sales with a large number of “finds” for your remodeling jobs. Email us at restore@sbhabitat.org to be notified of upcoming sales.
