The It All Starts At Home campaign for Habitat for Humanity was launched in 2016 with the intention of raising $1.5 million in support of the following activities:
- Build 3 new Habitat Homes on Sawyer Avenue in Carpinteria. These homes will provide safe and decent housing for 14 people, including 8 children, who show a pressing need and currently reside in substandard housing.
- Repair 5 homes through the A Brush with Kindness home repair program. This program provides exterior home repairs for low-income homeowners struggling to maintain a decent and safe place to live.
- Provide a Homeownership Readiness Curriculum to the new Habitat Homeowners, equipping them with the tools and learned skills to be successful and long-term homeowners. The curriculum includes courses on financial literacy, Homeowner Association management, the mortgage process, insurance needs, Habitat for Humanity’s resale restrictions, and much more.
