Three new affordable homes are currently under construction on Sawyer Avenue in Carpinteria.
The It All Starts At Home campaign for Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County was launched in 2016 with the intention of raising $1.5 million in support of the following activities:
- Build 3 new Habitat Homes on Sawyer Avenue in Carpinteria. These homes will provide safe and decent housing for 14 people, including 8 children, who show a pressing need and currently reside in substandard housing.
- Repair 5 homes through the A Brush with Kindness home repair program. This program provides exterior home repairs for low-income homeowners struggling to maintain a decent and safe place to live.
- Provide a Homeownership Readiness Curriculum to the new Habitat Homeowners, equipping them with the tools and learned skills to be successful and long-term homeowners. The curriculum includes courses on financial literacy, Homeowner Association management, the mortgage process, insurance needs, Habitat for Humanity’s resale restrictions, and much more.
