Habitat for Humanity to Help Restore Woman’s Historic Home

Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County will complete a home repair for a low-income homeowner over the next two weeks. Habitat volunteers will help make exterior repairs to the historic downtown Santa Barbara home including weatherization, painting and landscaping.

The three-phase project will engage more than 75 community volunteers, including groups from Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, Conversant and Kaiser Permanente.

A Brush with Kindness is Habitat for Humanity’s program that helps low-income homeowners struggling to maintain a safe, affordable place to live. Habitat will complete the repairs at the home of Lilliana, a Santa Barbara homeowner in need of help maintaining a safe and affordable place to live.

Chumash Donates $42,000 to Habitat for Humanity

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians presented a check for $42,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County at a recent board meeting. The funds were raised at the 12th annual Chumash Charity Golf Classic in September.
“We selected Habitat for Humanity as a beneficiary because they serve a critical need in our county which is housing,” said Kenneth Kahn, tribal chairman for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
“Not only do they provide low-cost homes to low-income families, they equip them with the tools and skills necessary to be successful, long-term homeowners,” he said.

Chumash Charity Golf Classic Announces Beneficiaries for 12th Annual Tournament

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians announced the three beneficiaries of the 12th annual Chumash Charity Golf Classic, to be held Sept. 22 at the Alisal River Course.

Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Santa Barbara County and a Technology in Schools Program administered by the Chumash Foundation will join the list of nonprofits and programs benefited by the charity event.
