Tony Morain is the Vice President of Communications at Direct Relief, a Santa Barbara-based humanitarian organization working to improve the health and lives of people throughout the US and more than 90 countries globally. Morain also serves on Charity Navigator’s Consultative Council of Nonprofit Leaders. Prior to Direct Relief, Morain worked at Ogilvy in the creative agency’s sustainability practice, where he received a Cannes Award and a Global Grand Challenge grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Before that, he served as a Merchant Marine Officer with the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, navigating football field-sized ships across the Pacific. Morain earned his Master of Arts in Global and International Studies from The University of California, Santa Barbara, and his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from The California Maritime Academy.
