After our local community was devastated following the Thomas Fire and subsequent mudslides in Montecito and Carpinteria, Habitat Santa Barbara mobilized nearly 2,000 volunteers to support more than 100 devastated homes, and removed more than 42,000 tons of mud and debris. Our work still continues, and now we are focused on neighborhood resiliency including long-term recovery and community preparedness initiatives. This disaster relief program will continue in 2019, working in partnership with nonprofit and government partners, along with neighborhood stakeholders, to address unique unmet needs by mobilizing volunteers to support the recovery process.
